The Monastery of Holy Archangels, once a pride of the Serbian Church was completely pulled down by the Albanian, Sinan Pasha who later burned to ashes the relics of St. Sava in Belgrade. Hundreds of Orthodox churches and monasteries were destroyed or converted into the mosques. The great amount of invaluable works of art, old books and reliquaries were destroyed. Once a thriving province with flourishing medieval cities was suddenly plunged into the darkness of barbarism with the arrival of Islam.
