Devic Monastery burned by the Albanian fascist collaborators in the World War II. The nuns found only the ruins after the war and had to build the monastery anew. Even today the monastery is still the target of the terrorist attacks. Monasteries under siege in time of Albanian autonomy (1974-1989). Abbess Hilaria had to protect her monastery with the gun in her hands because the local Albanian police ignored her requests for protection.
